Essex County Parade Slated For Olympic Fencing Hero, Ibtihaj Muhammad
If you've been waiting to congratulate U.S. Olympic fencing phenomenon Ibtihaj Muhammad, here's your chance.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — If you’ve been waiting to congratulate Olympic fencing phenomenon Ibtihaj Muhammad, here’s your chance, Essex County.
Maplewood township officials announced plans to honor Muhammad – recently named one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” list – with a parade on Saturday, Sept. 10. Parade details follow below:
- 10:30am: Motorcade leaves NJ Fencing Alliance, 50-58 Burnett Avenue
- 10:40am: Stop, meet & greet at Hilton Branch of the Maplewood Library
- 10:55am: Motorcade leaves library; proceed down Springfield Avenue to Prospect St., to Tuscan Rd., to Valley St., to Baker St.
- 11:10am: Stop, meet & greet at the Main Branch of the Maplewood Library
- 11:30am: Parade kicks off from library through Maplewood Village
- 12:00pm: Meet & greet and autograph signing at the Burgdorff Center
