How South Orange Voted: School Board, President, Marijuana
Here's how your neighbors voted in local races, including in the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education race.

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — The Essex County Clerk posted unofficial results Tuesday night of the elections for South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education.
Since many of the ballots were mail-in or completed on paper, the final results may not be known until later this month.

In the contested race for three South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education seats, the results are:
- Susan Lewis Bergin, 10,375
- Courtney Winkfield, 10,192
- Elissa Malespina, 7,718
- Deborah Engel, 7,709
- Melanie Finnern, 5,406

How Essex County voted
In Essex County, 77.95 percent of the votes totaled on Tuesday night were for former Vice President Joe Biden, or 206,048 votes. For President Donald Trump, 56,149 votes were cast, or 21 percent. Libertarian Jo Jorgensen amassed 941 votes, and other third party candidates and write-ins drew about 1,000 votes.
For the state question about legalizing marijuana, 71.8 percent voted in favor and 28.17 percent against, or 176,159 votes to 69,092.
