Jazz On Sloan Live Music Concerts Return Memorial Day Weekend

The Very Popular Jazz On Sloan at the South Orange Gazebo Music Series comes alive for the 9th season of the popular Downtown After Sundown Live Concerts. Performances start every Friday, Saturday and selected Special Sundays with the sounds of Jazz glistening the airways throughout the entire Downtown South Orange area. Featuring an extensive mix of North Jersey’s top classic jazz talent, jazz fusion artist along with some of the best up and coming jazz artist in this region.

From a 20-piece Swing Town Big Band, Blue Note Jazz Recording Artist, Contemporary Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Dixieland Jazz, Latin Jazz and of course Mainstream Jazz, you name it we got it. We have Jazz across the generations - from seasoned jazz professionals, nationally acclaimed jazz performers and composers whose music has played to international audiences, a Grammy award-winning violinist/ composer, to a young 16 year old jazz piano prodigy, that is a recipient of the 2017 Governor’s Award for “Exceptional Promise in Music” who was also named the 2015 Hot House Fan Decision Awards Best Up and Coming Young Artist”.

This year for those not directly connected to a band , for local residents who play and or sing we have implemented a monthly Sunday Special Jazz Jam or Jazz performance where folks can come on thru and join in a special Sunday evening - 6 - 9 PM Jazz Jam hosted by a variety of Jazz professionals. So, check the schedule for these special performances. Our performers have worked at many prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center, The Kimmel Center, The NJ State Theater, NJPAC and across the country from the Smithsonian, to El Paso, to San Diego and venues in between like New York’s Blue Note, Iridium, Kitano, SMOKE, Birdland, Jazz mobile, Smalls and numerous festivals across the US and the world. This 2018 season some of the best local area professional jazz musicians will grace the stage performing some great jazz so come on out and join us.
