Jimmy Murphy, NJ Native Pitcher, Returns to New York

The South Orange native is a second year pitcher with the Aberdeen IronBirds after being drafted in the 8th round by the Baltimore Orioles.

(Right to left) Former Fordham Rams pitcher and Aberdeen IronBirds starter Jimmy Murphy [South Orange, NJ], Fordham adjunct professor and Cirillo World President John Cirillo [Chappaqua by way of Brooklyn], and IronBirds manager Kyle Moore [Wetumpka, Alabama/Sarasota, FL] in pregame get together prior to game vs. Staten Island Yankees on Tuesday, July 31, at Richmond County Ball Yard. Murphy, drafted in the eighth round by the Baltimore Orioles in last year's amateur draft, is in his second season with the NY Penn League farm club. Murphy will get the starting assignment on Friday @ Brooklyn Cyclones. "I had my best outing in my last start, 7 innings and only two runs," said Murphy. "I love rolling Murph out there every fifth day since he was elevated to a starting role, " says Moore. "He's got fastball movement and is tough." Murphy is a former Cirillo World employee, where he served his apprenticeship in the Fall of 2016, and returns to staff special events during his off season.
