Letter to the Editor: Hat City Hassle

A guest reacts to a recent event and Patch story

Dear Editor:

My wife and I went to Hat City Kitchen recently.  We were curious about
the venue and both the bands booked to play there had friends playing with them.
We thought Hat City was very attractive, the food was good and we had a pleasent time there. Afterward, I spoke to one of your reporters and gave Hat City Kitchen a very positive review. (The story is here.)

I was distressed to learn that on the following weekend, one hour into the performance of a local band (more friends), they were asked to stop playing and leave the stage so that a DJ could take over for therest of the evening.  The band members are all seasoned performers and highlycompetent.  I know the band is sensitive to volume and would play atan appropriate volume level.  They are among the best a brightest of the local music scene.  In mid-performance they were told to get lost.

The disrespect shown by the Hat City management to these musicians is inexcusable.  For a venue that purports to support the local arts community this is a stinging slap in the face for local musicians.
