How did your band get started?

We met at our kids' school and started jamming together, and we liked the sound.

Who or what influences your band?

Traditional blues artists like Robert Johnson and Gary Davis; early country music like Hank Williams and Olabelle Reed; Woody Guthrie, Carter Family, Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch; Drive-by Truckers, Wilco, REM, Robyn Hitchcock, plenty of others...

How did you choose your band name?

Jeremy lives across the street from Mountain Station. We sing a lot of songs about trains, so it seemed like a natural mix.

How does this particular musical experience inform your life here in SO-M?

I, Jeremy, write a lot of songs about living in South Orange, so when I'm walking around town I keep an eye out for subjects.

When local folks come to see you play, what should they look or listen for, in particular?

Just listen to the groove.

And….when and where will you be performing next?

We often play the open mic at Hat City Kitchen.
