Softball is stronger than ever in South Orange and Maplewood.
Article written by Alex Nicholas.
The MSO Villagers summer season came to an end Thursday as the 14U and 10U Red teams competed in their division championships. Â The 14U Villagers won two games - beating Cranford and Elmora - to come away with the American Division championship! Â The 10U Red Villagers took a tie game into the last inning but fell just short losing to Springfield. Â
In addition to these PISL accomplishments, the 12U Villagers brought home two tournament trophies this summer - winning the Silver Bracket in Sparta and the tournament championship in Cranford, and the 8U Villagers finished a strong 3rd in the Woodbridge Summertime Sizzle tournament. Â Congratulations girls!Â
The MSO Villagers program continues to grow stronger year after year. Â The 14U Villagers' victory was MSO's first ever "A" division championship. Â And, the 12U Villagers continued MSO's string of championships in the Cranford tournament. Â
The program also continued to develop its younger players once again fielding a strong 8U team and, for the first time ever, two 10U teams - 10U Red and 10U Black.  The 10U Red Villagers was comprised mostly of returning players while the 10U Black Villagers was a first year team who made great strides over the course of the summer season. Â
These 8U and 10U teams will serve as the foundation for a strong MSO Villagers program for years to come!Â
