2. Boccone South
59 S Orange Ave South Orange, NJ 07079
Phone Number: (973) 378-9222
What they are saying: Boccone South never ceases to amaze me ! They are usually not too busy when I go during the week for dinner. Make sure to make a reservation just in case! There is a parking lot behind the restaurant that is usually always open. I wouldn't recommend parking on the street! Boccone South is a little fancy but you can definitely dress causally. The staff here is amazing and attentive. They never let your glass stay empty for long. This place is BYOB!!! Now let's talk about food!! Everything that I've ever had here was delicious. Their prices average around $20 -$25 per plate They have a regular menu but they also have off menu specials that your server will recite to you. My favorite dish is the Rigatoni and you can't really go wrong with anything with pasta. I have never eaten here for lunch but it's definitely a to do on my list! Can't wait to go back !
3. Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant
261 Irvington Ave South Orange, NJ 07079
Phone Number: (973) 327-4840
What they are saying: Lalibela is quite literally my favorite restaurant. I have never had a meal here that was anything less than delicious, and I try to come here around once a month, so I've tried just about every dish (though my best friend and I usually stick to the vegetarian combo platter). The soy tibs and beefless tibs are particularly wonderful. As if that wasn't enough, the service is always fast and friendly. The only bad aspect of Lalibela is that it is often far too empty; the restaurant deserves much more business. (OK, and the water is never cold enough, but that's seriously the lone downside.)
4. Inokosi's Cafe
251 Irvington Ave South Orange, NJ 07079
Phone Number: (973) 327-4851
What they are saying: What a hidden gem! My daughter treated me to lunch and suggested a few places in the area. Inkosi's Cafe had great reviews (and now I know why!)and so we decided to try them.Easy accessible, metered parking along Irvington ave but the side streets are not. Entering the cafe was inviting and colorful with a bohemian vibe. Colorful pottery and artful decor on the walls. The music was laid back R & B and at a low volume where you didn't have to compete. The server was polite and attentive. The menu had a good array of food but not where it was a book. I chose a fish sandwich with fries and my daughter chose a wrap with sweet potato fries.Upon receiving the food it was cooked and prepared nicely. My cod wia breaded and had a shmear of lightly spicy mayo and fries were hot and seasoned. The wrap was chilled ad flavorful and the sweet potatoes had a dusting of cinnamon that, with the sweetness of the potato was a delicious side. I would definitely come back!I recommend this place highly!
5. The Dancing Blender Smoothie Company
121 S Orange Ave South Orange, NJ 07079
Phone Number: (973) 821-5707
What they say: Great variety of smoothies and juices. It's the perfect place to hit up after going to the gym. Or before the gym. Or on a non gym day. Or if you don't even go to the gym. Healthy and tasty. My go to smoothie is the power smoothie. My juice is the soccer mom. Both are excellent. It's also a great place to bring your kids, especially when healthy options seem few and far between. Both my daughters love this place. Their go to is the Racheil strawberry and banana smoothie. This town needs a place like this. I hope they're around for a long time.

10. Town Hall Delicatessen
74 1st St South Orange, NJ 07079
Phone Number: (973) 762-4900
What they are saying: I love you, Town Hall Deli.I'm just this year learning about the magic that is the NJ sloppy Joe and I can't imagine anyone does it better than here. Huge sandwich, but not too heavy thanks to the nice slaw and thin sliced bread. The real (pun intended) secret sauce that makes it so magical is their homemade Russian dressing - ask for an extra cup if you're gross like me. Goes great with the Cel-Ray soda they carry.
