National Night Out Rocks Floods Hill

Annual event drew hundreds Tuesday night.

South Orange residents rocked Floods Hill on Tuesday for the annual National Night Out.  Hundreds of locals gathered, drawn by the music of Aisle 5, giveaways, demonstration by numerous law enforcement and public safety agents, and an outdoor movie.

Even before the event kicked off at 6:30 p.m., young residents were playing on the bounce houses and ogling the fire trucks and rescue rigs.  Numerous village officials and volunteers were on hand to give youngsters T-shirts and offer snacks for the movie.

"I never miss a year," said Maureen Rosario, who brings her own children and any interested friends. "It's fun and it's a very positive message for the kids.  Public safety officials, police, fire -- these are their friends.  The more they see of them, the better."
