NJ Congressman Launches 2015 Art Competition in Essex and Hudson counties
Contest is open to all high school artists in 10th District, including South Orange.

High school-aged artists in Essex and Hudson counties take note: Your skills can win you a trip to Washington D.C.
Registration is now open for the 2015 Congressional Art Competition for New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District, an annual contest that is open to residents from the following municipalities: Bloomfield, East Orange, Glen Ridge, Irvington, Maplewood, Montclair, Newark, Orange, South Orange, West Orange, Bayonne, Jersey City, Hillside, Linden, Rahway, Roselle, Roselle Park and Union Township.
The winning student’s work will be displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol, and the winner will travel to Washington, D.C., to participate in a national ceremony with other winners from around the country.

An awards reception will be held on May 4, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Newark Museum.
Student Release Forms are due to the Newark office by March 27. All artwork must be submitted to Newark office by April 2. Students are encouraged to contact the Congressman’s office to see if they qualify for an extension to April 7.

“The competition is a great way for the 10th District’s high school students to showcase their talents and hard work,” said Payne. “Our district is home to so many talented high school students, and every year I am impressed by the creative pieces they submit. I look forward to seeing the submissions, and I wish all participants the best of luck.”

CONTEST RULES
- Each submission must be two dimensional, no larger than 28 inches by 28 inches by 4 inches, no more than 15 pounds, original in design, and prepared for hanging
- Each student may submit one piece of artwork
- Seventh and eighth graders can participate only if their school is inside a high school; Participating students must go through their school’s art teacher
