Police Blotter: DUIs and Stolen Laptop

A West Orange resident parked her 2001 VW Passat in the NJ Transit lot on Church St. on Dec. 18 at approximately 5 p.m. When she returned, approximately seven hours later, she discovered that it had been stolen.

A Tichenor Ave. resident reports that sometime between Dec. 12 and Dec. 18, someone tried to enter his home by cutting a basement window screen. There were no signs of force on the window and the attempt to enter was unsuccessful.

Joseph Newton, 26, of Roselle, was arrested on for drunken driving on Dec. 16.

Police responded to a Finley Pl. home on Dec. 22 at approximately noon, when the house alarm was activated. A rear window was broken and a neighbor reported seeing a man walking away from the home. Police searched and found Dayshawn Greene, 19, of Newark, who was was positively identified as the individual seen on the private property.

A Varsity Rd. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 1Dec. 15, someone his vehicle by breaking the lock, removing $110 in cash.

Trezel Garris, 20, of South Orange, was arrested on Dec. 16 for possession of marijuana.

A Montrose Ave. resident reported that  during the night of Dec. 20, someone entered his home through a first floor rear window. A laptop was stolen from the first floor. There were no signs of a forced entry to the window.

Jason Guzman, 21, of Union City, was arrested for drunken driving on Dec. 17 at on South Orange Ave.
