Police Blotter: Foiled Car Thefts

On Sept. 1, a Centre St. resident stated that between August 27 and August 30, someone tried to steal his vehicle by damaging the driver's side door lock and ignition cylinder.

On August 30, an Edison resident reported that someone attempted to steal his vehicle while it was parked in a driveway on Fourth St. The door lock and ignition cylinder were damaged.

Deron Fraser, an Orange resident was arrested on August 26, at approximately 6:30 p.m., when he was observed by a Vose Ave. resident exposing himself in public.

An Orange resident reported that on August 29 she parked her vehicle in the SOPAC parking lot.  When she returned, the door lock and the ignition were damaged.

Two juvenile males were arrested on August 27, at approximately 1:15 a.m., when they were discovered attempting to steal a vehicle from Fairview Ave.

Isiah Noel, a 20-year-old Orange resident, was arrested on August 26 on West Montrose Avenue. It was determined during the on-scene investigation that the subject had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.

A South Orange resident stated that on August 26 he locked his bicycle, a blue and gray Schwinn 21-speed, under the main train station on Sloan St. When he returned, the bike was gone.

A Hamilton Rd resident stated that sometime between August 26 and 29, someone entered her home. Several items in the home were moved around and that numerous jewelry boxes and rooms were ransacked.

An Irving Ave. resident stated that at approximately 2:00 a.m. on August 29 he awoke to the sound of banging outside and the sound of an engine. When he looked out his window he discovered two people fleeing. The people damaged the door lock and steering column of the car.

A Fairview Ave. resident stated that on August 23, someone entered his home. A laptop computer was removed from his home. A worker across the street stated that he observed a black male approximately 40 years old, medium build and shaved head, on the porch of the victim's home at the time.

A South Orange resident stated that on August 25 at approximately 5:00 p.m. he  locked his bicycle under the main train station. When he returned, he discovered that the blue Trek mountain bike was gone.

Thelonious Martin a 39-year-old Newark resident was arrested on August 25  in possession of stolen items. The subject was walking on Wilden Pl. when he was stopped by detectives for fitting the description of a person believed to be involved in several home burglaries in the area. Detectives determined that Mr. Martin had of stolen property and gave them false information. It was discovered that the subject had just broken into a dwelling on Ward Pl. and items in his possession belonged to the victim of same. The subject was also a wanted individual out of Middlesex county.

Crystal Hernandez a 27-year-old South River resident was arrested  when officers responded to a call of a woman slumped over the wheel in a vehicle on Second St. The vehicle had been reported stolen and that the subject was also D.U.I.
