Police Nab Alleged Shoplifter Who Left Purse Behind

A 61-year-old South Orange resident has been arrested for shoplifting from a local market, police said. 

Jonella Bonita was arrested around 2 p.m. Tuesday, a day after she allegedly placed a number of items into her purse at Ashley Marketplace (formerly Eden Gourmet) on South Orange Avenue. When confronted, police said she fled, leaving her purse behind. The purse contained the groceries, as well as her personal items.

South Orange police arrested Bonita at her home. She was also charged in connection with an outstanding warrant out of Springfield.
