PSE&G Work May Cause Traffic Disruptions in Maplewood
PSE&G will be working on Maplewood on Cherry Lane and South Orange Avenue in the South Mountain Reservation from about December 26, 2013 to approximately June 6, 2014.

Public Service Electric & Gas Co. (PSE&G) is upgrading and replacing an underground electric transmission circuit, which will run through West Orange, Maplewood, Millburn, Springfield and Union into the Springfield Road Substation.
“The purpose of this infrastructure upgrade is to continue to ensure safe, reliable utility service for area residents and business owners,” PSE&G officials said in a written statement.
The company estimates that construction through the nine-mile circuit will be completed between January and June of 2014.

“To expedite this work, PSE&G has scheduled extended work hours Monday through Friday, with some 24hr. and/or weekend work expected during certain aspects of the project,” PSE&G said. “It should be noted that the construction dates and scheduled work hours identified are tentative and subject to minimal variations due to the construction process and weather sensitive work activities.”
In addition, road or lane closings with detours are possible during construction. Local police will be on site at all times to oversee new traffic patterns.
“For everyone’s safety, PSE&G crews use work area protection including local police department traffic management assistance, traffic cones, barriers, utility work signage, and flaggers, providing safety measures for project completion,” they said. “The utility reminds motorists to slow down and be alert when driving past a PSE&G worksite.”
“Interruptions will be kept to a minimum, and PSE&G regrets any inconvenience the project may cause,” they added.
