South Orange resident to sing, rap in concert featuring her new song, "Neurotic Society Compulsory Mix," at Music Hall of Williamsburg.

Singer, songwriter Lauryn Hill, the South Orange resident and former Fugee who must soon surrender for a three-month prison term for failing to pay taxes on $2.3 million in income over a five-year span, will perform Tuesday, May 14 in Brooklyn, a published report Monday said.
Hill, who was sentenced on Monday, May 6 for tax evasion, will sing and rap at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, according to the NJ.com report.
Tickets to the show are $85 in advance and $100 at the door, the report said, and VIP “meet and greet” passes may be purchased for $200.

The NJ.com report said Hill took to Twitter to give her rationale for scheduling a last-minute show – citing an opportunity to perform "Neurotic Society Compulsory Mix," her recently released song.
Hill, who until this point had taken a low-key persona following her sentencing, recently took to her Tumblr account to thank supporters who wrote letters to the judge on her behalf for leniency in her sentencing.

She thanked fellow musicians Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys, who were among the 28 people who participated in the letter-writing campaign.
In the Tumblr post, Hill said Thursday, "I also want to thank all of my family, friends, business associates, and fans who have called, emailed, sent texts, and posted messages of concern, encouragement, and support. I appreciate the well wishes, and I thank you for your prayers."
Last month, Hill announced via Tumblr she had signed a deal with Sony music to help her pay off $900,000 in back taxes and penalties she owed and she released the single via iTunes and Tumblr.
