Rockin' on the Rahway; Hopping on the Hill
The week began with ribbon-cutting and ended with outdoor music and downtown dining

South Orange went down to the river this week with a Monday ribbon-cutting. Tuesday saw a trip to the hill for National Night Out, followed by Rock the Hill on Wednesday, the final outdoor concert of the summer.
We visited the Community Garden and saw it flourish, while Village Gardener Katie Payne told us how to raise the youngsters right (and green-thumbed!).
CHS freshmen succeeded this summer, while a fellow student won a AAA poster award. We learned that the governor's proposed superintendent pay cap is both constitutional and likely to impact our district.

We met a daredevil at the library and heard WSOU share the music with troops abroad.
Finally, we pondered happy accidents and St. Christina the Astonishing. Remember that a drought warning is in effect; we'll publish more conservation tips in the days to come. The week ahead will also preview fall arts options and we'll talk cake.Â
