SHU and Rutger's Continue Basketball Rivalry
Pirates and Scarlet Knights announce eight-year agreement to keep alternating home sites for men's basketball.

Seton Hall University’s and Rutgers University’s Divisions of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Friday an eight-year agreement to continue the men’s basketball series at alternating home sites beginning this upcoming season, according to the SHU Pirates site. The first game will be at the Rutgers Athletic Center at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013.Â
"Continuing a local college basketball rivalry with such a rich tradition only made sense," said Seton Hall head coach Kevin Willard.

Rutgers head coach Eddie Jordan said he was "very excited" about the news. "It helps to build spirit and is good for our University, our fans, our students and the New Jersey basketball community," he said. Â
Seton Hall’s four games in the series will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark in December of 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020. Rutgers’ four home games will take place at the Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway in December of 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.Â

The Pirates and Scarlet Knights have met 64 times going back to 1916, with SHU winning 35 times. Â
