SHU and SO Welcome Class of 2014
Thursday's Move-In Day Saw the Arrival of SHU Freshmen
The Seton Hall University Class of 2014, some 13oo strong, arrives in South Orange this week. The largest entering class since 1981 was welcomed on Thursday with information and assistance, as students moved into residence halls.
Representatives from numerous student groups helped freshmen unload their belongings and carry them into dorms. Parents and new students knew what to expect from this busy day, as a series of videos on the SHU website prepared them for the process.
Though the day was long-planned and well-coordinated, the unknown was weather. Fortunately, the sun appeared, dried off the campus, and made Move-In Day a little easier.

Still, saying good-bye is rough. The university has 40 days of events planned for students, which will keep them engaged and busy away from home. As for the families, our last photo shows a line of cars leaving campus. Filled to overflowing when they arrived, these cars held only a driver or another family member as they left. This editor saw a few adults reaching for the tissues as they turned onto South Orange Avenue.
The families will be back soon. University Weekend, October 1 - 3, 2010, is just around the corner.
