Small Fire Breaks Out in Two-Story House on Tichnor Avenue

No injuries were reported in Saturday night blaze.

A fire broke out on the second floor of a two-story house at 320 Tichnor Ave. on Saturday night, the South Orange Fire Department has confirmed, temporarily displacing two residents. 

The accidental fire broke out a little after 7:30 p.m. and was caused by an inflammable cloth that was draped over a standing lamp in the bedroom on the second floor, according to South Orange Fire Chief Jeff Markey. 

The second floor sustained water and smoke damage. The fire department advised the residents to stay somewhere else for the night, according to Markey.

No injuries were reported, but the male resident was treated for smoke inhalation on the scene, Markey said. 

Around 8:50 p.m., firefighters left the scene.

"The fire was quickly extinguished and brought under control," according to the fire report.
