South Mountain YMCA Early Childhood Learning Center: Events and Reminders

Don't forget Food Day, the Halloween parade and to order photos of your child.

There’s lots to be done this month for the South Mountain YMCA’s Early Childhood Learning Center.

In its recent newsletter, the ECLC would like to remind parents of the following events and important dates:

  • Second-session fall registration: Fall classes for the ECLC’s second session are open for registration now. Classes start Oct. 27 and run until Dec. 21.
  • Food Day: Food Day is Oct. 24. The students at the center will spend all week leading up to the celebration learning about healthy foods and making sound choices. The children will then make a healthy breakfast for one another.
  • Halloween Parade: The Y’s annual Halloween parade takes place Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. All are welcome to join in on the festivities.
  • Order your child’s photos: Online ordering for photos is now available. Directions for ordering may be found inside the envelope with the proofs. Parents may receive free shipping and a 10 percent discount on all orders more than $40 by entering the code SAVETEN. The discount expires Dec. 18. Anyone with questions is asked to contact Lifetouch at 1-800- 736-4748.
  • Thanksgiving closure: The ECLC will be closed Thanksgiving and the Friday after.
  • Darkness to Light: The staff at the ECLC has participated in Darkness to Light, a training program that teaches them to be aware of childhood sexual abuse, its impact on children and how to prevent it. Parents are encouraged to take the training as well. The training is online and may be accessed via the South Mountain YMCA website by clicking “Darkness to Light” to proceed to the free training.
