South Orange-Maplewood BOE to Host Capital Plan Forum

Public forum will include presentation and discussion on district's capital plans.

 

The South Orange - Maplewood Board of Education will host a public forum on the district's capital plans on Monday, June 17 at 7 p.m. at 525 Academy Street.

According to an email from the district, the forum will include a presentation on capital planning to:

  • Renew district facilities to meet the educational and enrollment demands of the 21st century;
  • Provide educational, performance and athletic facilities that will benefit the entire community;
  • Renew Columbia High School buildings and grounds to reflect a legacy of excellence and to support advances in STEM education.

Elected officials from both towns will be able to ask questions and discuss the proposals. The public is encouraged to ask questions during the public comment portion of the meeting.

The presentation will be followed by the BOE's regular monthly board meeting.

The BOE is seeking community feedback, particularly regarding the possiblity of constructing a new aquatic facility at Columbia High School.
