
South Orange Middle School will perform Guys and Dolls this school year, as the annual winter musical. The date has not yet been finalized, but the show is traditionally at the end of March or early April.
Guys and Dolls is set among gamblers and musicians in New York City. Written by Frank Loesser, it is based on two short stories by Damon Runyon. It premiered on Broadway in 1950, and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The musical has had several Broadway and London revivals, as well as a 1955 film starring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra and Vivian Blaine.
Popular songs from the musical include, Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat, Luck Be a Lady, and If I Were a Bell.Â
