South Orange Middle HSA Responds to District, Parent Concerns

The South Orange Middle School Home-School Association released a letter on Tuesday that explained the organization's role in a recent meeting related to the district's .

Signed by the HSA Executive Board, the letter explains, "As representatives of all members of the HSA, we cannot articulate any one opinion regarding the current situation and must remain completely neutral on personnel issues of this sort. We hope you can understand and appreciate our role as restricted by bylaws in that we act as liaisons between parents and educational staff."

At the same time, HSA Board members are aware and have communicated their observations of "the climate at SOMS." Those observations led to last week's . At that meeting, "the SOMS Executive Board members expressed the hope that a forum would be organized for the wider SOMS community. We will follow up on this possibility at the end of the week."
