Three's the Charm: A Trio of Trustee Meetings in One Evening

An update on the special meeting, the Alcohol Beverage Board and conference agenda

A The Mon., July 12, 2010 meeting of the Board of Trustees was three meetings in one. The first, "Special" Meeting saw a number of ordinances pass on second reading. Notable among them was a fee of $50 charged for residents who have mulch – as much as four cubic yards – delivered to their homes. Likewise, the Village will institute a charge of $75 for pick up of large appliances such as refrigerators.

When the first meeting adjourned, the Alcohol Beverage Board renewed the plenary retail consumption licenses, often known as liquor licenses, for both Above Restaurant and Gaslight Brewery and Restaurant.

The final meeting was a Conference Agenda, an opportunity for trustees and public to be brought up-to-date on committee reports and other happenings of the community.

Main Street South Orange introduced John Lang, owner of Kumon, a new business in town. In addition, Carole Anzalone-Newman announced that July 21 will see a cooking demonstration from Eden Gourmet chefs.

Allison V. Brown, organizer of Sept's South Orange International Blues Festival, updated the trustees. The event is planned to embrace the downtown, as well as Cameron Field and Floods Hill areas.

Some two dozen resumes have been received for the open Cultural Affairs staff position, the position Judy Wukitsch held until July 1. The process moves forward, and trustee Nancy Gould noted that some of the resumes "look excellent."

The trustees meet again on July 26.
