Village President, Mayor Declare 'Our Lady of Sorrows Week'
South Orange and Maplewood mark the parish's 125 years.
Village President Alex Torpey Monday night declared "Our Lady of Sorrows Week" in South Orange, and Mayor Vic DeLuca did the same on Tuesday night. The week beginning May 26 will recognize the 125th anniversary of the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows (OLS).Â
Church celebrations culminate on Saturday, June 1 with a closing mass followed by a gala celebration at Mayfair Farms in West Orange, according to marketing chair Chuck Chambers.
"We recognize that OLS has been part of this community, and a neighbor to South Orange for more than a century," said Torpey.
