Week in Review: Summer, Sentences and an accused Spy
The week was full in our community, as summer programs began for kids and two retirements were marked.

This week, my first as editor of South Orange Patch, was full. We started with a photo spread of World Cup action in town, and saw the beginning of the Summer Playground program and the Adult School's Community Summer Program at SOMS.
Andy Brady was sentenced on Monday, a Millburn teen pleaded guilty in a car crash that took Ari Vuitola's life, and a former SHU player was indicted. We also learned that one of the accused Russian spies has ties to South Orange, and we looked at his long virtual trail.
The Board of Trustees declared June 28 "Lynn M. Cucciniello Day", honored Student Villagers of the Month, and heard a presentation from SOPAC. Â The Village also bid farewell to Judy Wukitsch.

In sports, we read about a CHS Student in National Roller Skating Competition,. In addition, Jose Ortiz announced the Patch male and female athletes of the spring (Andrew Rigassio and Brittney Jackson, respectively). , The U10 boys little league team won a championship, as well.
We welcomed a new column, Village Gardener, and read of another columnist's personal declaration of independence.

The farmers' market opened this week, and bargain hunters headed for the Turnover Sale. And speaking of food and shopping, Zayda's is moving to Eden Gourmet.
