200 Without Power In Springfield Following Heavy Rains

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — More than 200 Springfield residents are without power following heavy rain on Tuesday.

JCP&L is reporting a total of 222 residents are without power as of 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday. The outage is located off County Road 509 near Park Place in Springfield, which is on the Mountainside border.

Power is expected to be restored at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, according to JCP&L.

More rain and thunderstorms are expected later today as well, according to the National Weather Service.

Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Areas of fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a 10th and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 3 a.m., then a slight chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Southwest wind around 9 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a 10th and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
