70-Year-Old Springfield Man Charged With Lewdness: Police

A 21-year-old Brooklyn woman was accused of trying to make a purchase using counterfeit money, police said.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A 70-year-old Springfield man was charged with lewdness after an investigation by police detectives, authorities announced.

The Springfield police blotter for Nov. 1 through Thursday consists of the following incidents:

  • Nov. 6: Officers were dispatched to a Morris Avenue business on a report of a shoplifter that left the scene, police said. A responding officer saw the suspect running in a nearby office parking lot. The suspect, a 48-year-old Newark man, was located inside the office building and was arrested and charged with shoplifting and possession of narcotics paraphernalia, police said.
  • Nov. 11: Officers went to a Morris Turnpike business on a report after someone tried to make a purchase using counterfeit money, police said. A 21-year-old Brooklyn, New York woman was arrested after authorities investigated. She was charged with forgery with purpose to defraud and hindering apprehension, police said. A second suspect, a 24-year-old Brooklyn, New York man, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of North Haven, Connecticut.
  • Nov. 14: A 70-year-old Springfield man was charged with lewdness after detectives conducted an investigation, police said.

Additional arrests were made in connection with outstanding warrants out of East Orange, Springfield, Montgomery, and Elizabeth.
