Two car thieves were arrested and a third remained at-large following a wild early-morning chase in mid-July in Springfield, where three men attempted to elude authorities as they slammed head-on into an officer's vehicle, drove across lawns and knocked down mailboxes before the men jumped out and the runaway SUV took out a fire hydrant, police said. The third man allegedly involved in the car theft was arrested in September, police said.

A representative from Pennoni Associates Inc. asked the Springfield Board of Education's permission in late-October to present plans for a subdivision on Tree Top Drive to the township.


The Ice Hut Closes its Doors Friday


The family-owned frozen treat shop The Ice Hut will serve its last customers in late-October. A posting on the Mountain Avenue shop's Facebook wall thanked Springfielders for their support during the store's two-and-a-half year run.
