SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Meet Ginger! She has been chosen as Springfield Patch's Pet Of The Week.

"This is my 7 year old sassy but sweet Shih Tzu, Ginger. (Don't mind her tongue sticking out in one of them... apparently it's a Shih Tzu thing- their tongues are too long for their tiny faces!)

She's such a character who can snap into play mode in a matter of seconds, then snap back into nap mode. She gets mad when she can't greet you at the door for whatever the reason may be. She barks and cries the cutest girly bark and cries. When we take her for walks and we're on the way back to our house and close to it, she knows and gets all excited and runs to it. She loves people so much, she has run into people's cars and sat on their laps! She's very bold and always tells ya what she wants in the funniest ways.

When we've walked her around parks or the complex, there have been a couple people who have stopped us to ask if they could actually buy our dog! Weird but funny and just confirms what we already know- she's the cutest freakin' thing.

Occasionally, we leave a blanket out, but folded and she'll take to the top of it as if it is a throne of hers! When we get her groomed, the lady always tells us afterward how she couldn't get any girlier. The same lady has watched Ginger when we've gone on vacation and she's told us how she loves sitting on the arm of the couch, watching TV and when it was time to go to the bathroom, she would do it real quick and hurry back as if she were afraid to miss the next program on TV. We couldn't have asked for a better dog."
