JCP&L Replaces Utility Poles, Cables In Springfield
Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L)'s $1.7 million cable replacement project is expected to enhance reliability in Springfield

Springfield, NJ - New utility poles, transformers and wires were installed in Springfield as part of Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L)'s $1.7 million cable replacement project.
The project, which started in September, finished in April to add resiliency to the electric system and enhance reliability for customers in the area.
JCP&L transmission and mobile construction crews installed 30 new utility poles, added new transformers, capacitors and fuses and strung more than 4,000 feet of wire.

"This project makes our system in the Springfield Township area more resilient, which is especially beneficial to critical customers such as Overlook Hospital and New Jersey Transit," stated Tony Hurley, JCP&L vice president of Operations. "By doing proactive upgrades like this one, our goal is to enhance service reliability and further minimize the duration and frequency of potential service interruptions."
JCP&L serves 1.1 million New Jersey customers in the counties of Burlington, Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren.
