SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Meet George! He has been chosen as Patch's Pet Of The Week. Nominate your pet for Springfield's Pet of the Week.

"George came to us one year ago all the way from Port Lavaca, Texas, through Big Dog Rescue. He is a handsome one and a half year old Black Labrador who has lots of energy, enjoying morning walks around the neighborhood, and midday hikes in Pleasant Valley and Dunham Parks.

While it took him a few months, he’s grown very attached to his human family, Mike, Ana and Alissa, and his big fur brother Sam. His favorite pastimes include chasing squirrels – and is very fast so might catch one – and swimming in the bay in the summer. We love our George!"

Do you think your pet should be Springfield's Pet of the Week?

Participating in the Pet of the Week happenings is simple: submit your nomination by emailing alexis.tarrazi@patch.com with subject line "Springfield Pet Of The Week." Be sure to include a photograph or two of your pet, a paragraph about what makes him or her so great, and the town you're from.

You can choose to include your name, but you don't need to. Then just keep an eye out for a photo of your pet on the Patch!

The photo can be of a present pet, or it can be a baby picture of the adult pet you're so proud of today. All photos must be property of the submitter.
