SOMERVILLE, NJ — Three New Jersey locals are teaming up to open Somerset County’s first Brew Pub with a planned opening date of this fall.
Somerville local Gary Frank along with his sister Iris Frank and restauranteour and Springfield local Scott Eadie are opening Village Brewing Company on West Main Street in the original Woolworth's and former Somerville Center Antiques in the heart of the Somerville downtown district.

The microbrewery had planned to open this summer but construction delays have set back the opening to the fall.
“Somerville is really making an effort for local grassroots to make a resurgence,” Frank said. “They do an amazing job with holding their own set of local events and we hope to add an extra splash with the things we do.”

Gary, who has already helped to build four breweries in the state and has 42 years of brewing experience, approached his sister with the idea of opening in Somerville. A mutual friend then put them in touch with Eadie, who had worked with Harvest Restaurant Group for 17 years.
Together they will serve up seasonal craft beers and Progressive American-Style cuisine.
“It will be an American farm to table, elevated chef-style cuisine,” Eadie said. “Top dollar burgers, cheesesteak sandwiches, salads.”
The idea of the name and concept came from the saying “It takes a village,” Frank said.
Frank said they are talking with many local farmers in Hunterdon County to incorporate their food in the menu.
The menu will mainly focus around beer but there will also be a selection on wine, bourbons, scotch and other spirits as well. Growlers will also be offered.
The 8,400-square-foot space will feature a 180-seat upscale casual restaurant and 30-seat bar and tap room. The 50-foot bar with have three TVs for locals to grab a drink at night and sports enthusiast.
The main dining room will be directly in front of the brewery that will be glass-encased so that diners can watch the beer being brewed in real time.
Memberships will also be offered to allow locals to get special drink and growler offerings as well.
