As of this message, Springfield had 7 new cases of COVID-19, totaling 50 positive tests and 1 death. Union County has 152 new cases of COVID-19, and 5 new deaths, totaling 2,010 positive tests and 34 deaths. The State of New Jersey currently had 3,489 new cases of COVID-19 and 182 new deaths, bringing the state total number to 25,590 positive tests, and 537 COVID-19 related deaths.

• Union County Test Center: Administered over 400 tests and received 25,000 calls.

• Car Wash Clarification: Self-serve car washes can remain open, but no hand car washing
or any car wash that has people drying cars or cleaning interiors of cars is allowed.

• New Jersey Unemployment Rate: A record 206,253 new unemployment claims were filed with the state Department of Labor last week. That brings the two-week total to more than 362,000. The previous record was set in November 2012 after Superstorm Sandy, when initial claims rose to more than 46,000 in a single week. Data released by the US Department of Labor shows nearly 156,000 New Jersey residents are currently collecting unemployment, about 51,000 more than the prior week.
