Springfield Pilot Survives Plane Crash At Morristown Airport
An equipment malfunction caused the plane's undercarriage to touch the runway as it landed, Tuesday morning.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A pilot from Springfield escaped unscathed from a crash while landing a plane Tuesday morning at the Morristown Municipal Airport, according to police.
The man, 83-year-old John Loofbourrow, was the only person aboard. The incident happened at around 9 a.m.
As he was preparing to land, the indicators inside the single-engine plane showed that the landing gear was down and locked, Loofbourrow told police. But as he touched down, the landing gear either failed or had actually not been locked down, causing the plane’s undercarriage to make contact with the runway.
