Springfield Police Arrest Alleged Serial Package Thief

Darlyn Vizcaino-Garcia was charged with theft after at least 3 packages were stolen from in front of Springfield homes, police said.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A man has been charged with theft in connection with three packages that were stolen from local homes recently, police announced.

A Springfield resident contacted police at noon Wednesday after watching the driver of a black Toyota throw away several empty Amazon delivery boxes into a neighbor's recycling bin on Garden Oval, police said. The resident said the vehicle had a Domino's Pizza delivery sign on the room.

Police officers were notified of the thefts, and Capt. Jonathan Rachel and Detective Anthony Voorhees saw the Toyota traveling on Morris Avenue. They stopped the driver, Darlyn Vizcaino-Garcia as the vehicle turned onto Mountain Avenue.

Police investigated and determined that Vizcaino-Garcia of Roselle was involved in the theft of packages from at least three homes, police said. The stolen property was found and the driver was charged with theft, they said.

The passenger in the vehicle, a Bayonne resident, is also facing theft charges after police conducted a follow-up investigation.
