Springfield Resident Offers 10 Commandments For Launching A Successful Startup
Inventors will have an opportunity to present their concept and get feedback to use to take ideas to the next level.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Springfield local and member of Mandelbaum Salsburg’s law firm, Peter Levy offers the 10 commandments to launching a successful startup.
- Ensure that every member on your team can articulate your company’s value proposition.
- Recruit the best management possible.
- “Fail” is not a four-letter word, but making the same mistake twice is unconscionable.
- The stakeholder is always right.
- “First Mover Advantage” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be – learn from the mistakes of the early adopter.
- Protect your intellectual property.
- If you think it can’t be accomplished, you are correct.
- Financials are like bikinis.
- Remember the words of George Bernard Shaw: “All progress depends on the unreasonable person.”
- Don’t believe your own nonsense.
Going further into his tips, Levy is offering an Innovation Exchange, a complimentary forum for entrepreneurs and inventors to find out how to take their ideas from concept to completion while protecting their assets, developing a brand and understanding the corporate structure alternatives.
This event will take place on Oct. 14 in the Mandelbaum Salsburg Board Room located at 3 Becker Farm Road, Roseland from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Inventors will have an opportunity to present their concept in front of Corporate and Intellectual Property Practice Group attorneys and get feedback to use to take ideas to the next level. Each concept will be confidentially evaluated on a one-on-one basis and will help entrepreneurs determine what the next steps should be for their concept. They will meet with attorneys to discuss a range of questions including next steps, patents, protecting Intellectual Property and much more.
“With the advent of shows like "Shark Tank," "Dragon’s Den" and "Funderdome," inventors are realizing that having an idea can be the way to realizing the American Dream, but having an idea and turning into a product can be a daunting task. We’ve seen a need to help people who have a great idea, but don’t have the tools to get it from a concept to the point where it can be brought to market,” says Levy, Chair of Mandelbaum Salsburg’s Intellectual Property Department. “We have a team of people that can help do just that.”
