Springfield Son Has Mom Of The Year
Springfield son shares his mom's amazing story on why he believes she is "Mom Of The Year."

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Last week we asked you to nominate a mother who you feel should be Springfield Patch's Mom Of The Year in honor of Mother's Day.
Son Jorge Aparicio of Springfield, nominated his mother Marina Aparicio and shared her amazing story.
"My mother came into this country at the age of 21 from her native Uruguay in order to live a better life. Since she came at 21 and didn't have anyone to support her she promptly began working multiple jobs leaving her no time for an education. After meeting my father she continued to work with him and they were able to purchase a house together at 22 years old. A few years later she began taking classes at night while working during the day. Throughout this time me and my brother were both recently born leaving her no time to do anything. She ended up getting her associates at 39 when I was 4 years old, and then at the tender age of 46 she graduated with her bachelor's degree with valedictorian honors. Just this year she will be graduating with her masters at 57 years old."

"She always has been an inspiration to me and my brother always striving to be the best. She came into this country knowing little English and now speaks so well it rivals native speakers to the point that she even taught English. Despite having two kids and working full time she made time to get her education so that she could provide better for me and my family, even if that required her to still go to school with people a third of her age. Even today my friends look to her to help build their resumes, apply for loans, and apply for schools. Shes the most amazing woman I could have ever asked to be my mother and one day I hope to be half the person she is."
