After Kidnap Incident, Summit Cops Make Video On Personal Safety
The police made the video, featuring a local detective, to warn kids not to accept things or get into a car with strangers.

SUMMIT, NJ — A little over a week after a 19-year-old woman was apparently kidnapped off the streets of Summit — and managed to escape — police have released a video addressed to "boys and girls," meant to keep them safe.
In the video, Det. Sgt. Ryan Peters advises, "Always check with one of your grownups before going anywhere, helping anyone, accepting anything, or getting into a car."
Peters advises kids to pay attention to their surroundings and not just their phone, avoid taking shortcuts through the woods alone, memorize their loved ones' phone numbers, and if someone tries to grab them, get the attention of another adult.
