Big Hair, Legwarmers, and Shoulder Pads Spotted in Summit
Family Promise's Back to the 80s Dance Party to help families in need brought the decade of neon spandex and hairspray to Summit for a night

Neon spandex, shoulder pads, and big hair were on full display in Summit this past weekend as Family Promise celebrated its 30th year serving children and families battling homelessness.
More than 100 guests turned up for Family Promise’s Back to the 80s Dance Party at the Summit Elks Lodge on Saturday night, January 26. Guests dressed up like Madonna, Billy Idol, George Michael, Adam Ant, and other iconic personalities from the 1980s filled the dance floor as DJ Paul Fessock of World of Rock spun tunes from that decade. Family Promise Manager of Special Events Corina Borg decided on the party’s theme to recognize Family Promise’s founding in the late 1980s.
Supporters of Family Promise old and new were thrilled to join in the festivities. Sara and Gene Barbato, who first learned of Family Promise last year, enjoyed the flash back in time.
