Confused About Summer Camp? Fair In Summit Will Give Some Options

SUMMIT, NJ — Summer can be an expensive time for parents. With schools closed, they have to consider their various day care and recreational options. The city of Summit's Recreation Department runs an inexpensive seven-week summer camp from late June through early August, and signups began Jan. 2. More information is here.

However, that camp doesn't last the entire workday, or all summer. To fill gaps, some parents opt for private camps.

But questions remain: Do they go for day camp, or overnight? Camp far away, or close by? A camp by the lake, or a specialty camp for an activity like gymnastics or chess?

Not all of these questions can be answered in one place. However the New Jersey Camp Fair will try to answer some of them on Sunday when private camp directors will answer questions at the Grand Summit Hotel. The event runs from noon to 3 p.m.

The fair will provide information on some of the camp options in New Jersey for kids ages three to 17.

Organizers say, "Meet sleep away camps, traditional day camps, to specialty camps ranging from sports, adventure, travel, academic, art, robotics, performing arts, foreign language and more. Free to the public and community."
