Deer Hunt Will Continue Monday in Summit
Watchung Reservation and Passaic River Park will remain open during hunt on Feb. 8

Summit, NJ -- The last day of the deer hunt in Union County is slated for Monday, Feb. 8 at in six Union County parks and one municipal park.
This will be the sixth and last day of the Union County Department of Parks and Recreation’s annual Deer Management Program.
If there is inclement weather, the hunt will be moved to Wednesday, Feb. 10.

The hunt will occur at:
- Watchung Reservation (Berkeley Heights, Mountainside Scotch Plains, Springfield, Summit),
- Passaic River Park (Summit portion),
- Ash Brook Reservation (Clark, Scotch Plains),
- Lenape Park and Nomahegan Park (Cranford, Kenliworth, Springfield, Union, Westfield),
- Oak Ridge Park (Clark),
- and the Hawk Rise Sanctuary (Linden).
Parks will remain open during the hunt, however, portions of some roadways inside the park may be closed for short periods if necessary.

Hunters will be in the parks from 5:30 a.m. until after dark, but shooting may occur only during daylight hours.
Park patrons are urged to stay on the marked hiking, walking and bridle trails. Park users also are urged to adhere to the County ordinance that requires that pets be restrained on a leash.
The hunt will continue on Mondays through Feb. 12, unless there is a holiday such as Martin Luther King Day or inclement weather which will move the hunt to Wednesday.
