Do You Make The Best Apple Pie In Summit? Prove it Sunday

Summit Farmers Market Annual Apple Pie Contest allows all types of pies to be considered.

SUMMIT, NJ – Those who think they have the best apple pie around will have a chance to strut their stuff Sunday as part of Summit Downtown, Inc.'s Annual Apple Pie Contest.

Amateur bakers are invited to bring their best Apple Pie to the Summit Farmers Market by 10:45 a.m.. All types of apple pies are allowed: apple cranberry, caramel apple, apple raisin, etc.

Pies must be made from scratch and no canned ingredients or boxed mixed are allowed.
Entrants must bring a copy of their recipe to the contest with them.

To register for the contest, visit http://bit.ly/sfmapple2019. Pre-registering is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

The pies will be judged on three criteria:

  • appearance
  • crust
  • filling

The winners will receive Summit Farmers Market Fun Money to be spent at the market.
The next Sunday Funday activity will be Fall Family Photo Day on Sunday, Oct. 27 followed by the Pumpkin Bread/Muffin Contest on Sunday, Nov. 10.

The market is run by Summit Downtown, Inc. (SDI) and is located in the Park & Shop Lot #2, at the corner of DeForest Avenue and Maple Street.
