Former Longtime Summit Teacher Passes Away

She earned a teaching degree after her husband's premature death, then taught for 35 years.

SUMMIT, NJ — Joann Campbell, who earned a teaching degree after her husband's passing early in her marriage, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, with her beloved daughter, one of her favorite former hourly caregivers, and her sweet cat by her side.

Campbell was born in Connecticut. She attended public schools in New Haven and went on to earn her BA in Education at Principia College in 1954.

It was at Principia where she met her husband, David Campbell. They married in 1956 and lived in Pennsylvania until their move to Summit in March of 1962. Joann was tragically prematurely predeceased by her husband that year.
