Impending Snow Cancels Recycling, Dial-A-Truck Pickups In Summit

If the forecast holds, garbage collection will also be suspended on Thursday in Summit.

SUMMIT, NJ — Recycling and the Dial-A-Truck is cancelled on Thursday due to the impending snow storm.

The storm is expected to hit the area beginning Wednesday night and continue through Thursday with an expected 6 to 10 inches.

Recycling set for Feb. 9 is now cancelled and will be picked up instead on Feb. 11 for all residents. Residents should have recyclables at the curb by 6 a.m. on Saturday morning.

If the forecast holds, garbage collection will also be suspended on Thursday and resume on Saturday, conditions permitting.

Unless a path is cleared to the outdoor trash receptacles, trash will not be able to collected, the city posted.

Overnight on-street parking and parking in the Deforest Avenue park and shop lots will be restricted during the storm and during clean-up operations. Vehicles can be parked in the Broad Street and Springfield Avenue Tier garages during the storm but must be removed by 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10 to accommodate employee and commuter parking.

The Dial-a-Truck pickup for Thursday is cancelled. To reschedule for the February 16 pickup, call the Department of Community Services at 908-273-6404. The city will not picking up items on Feb. 16 unless a reschedule request is received by the department.

Any items placed at the curb for the Feb. 9 pickup should be removed from the curb.

People are advised to remain at home and avoid driving if possible to allow crews the opportunity to clear the roads.
