New Traffic Light Coming To River Road In Summit

New signal at River Road and Passaic Avenue is expected to be fully activated Jan. 22.

SUMMIT, NJ - Observant motorists may have noticed the new traffic signal that was installed at the intersection of River Road and Passaic Avenue, but all drivers will notice on Tuesday Jan. 22 when the light becomes fully operational.

Between now and Monday the signal will be in flash mode giving drivers time to get used to it. The new signal is on a Union County road in Summit so this was approved in the third quarter of 2018 by both Union County and the City of Summit.

According to City Engineer Aaron Schrager, traffic patterns are not expected to change.
