Our beautiful Irish rose, Eileen Gannon Newman, 65, of Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in Easton on November 30, 2020 after a long illness.

Eileen was the daughter of the late Leola (Brown) and Harvey Gannon and grew up in Summit, New Jersey. She lived there until marrying Kenneth Newman of Clark, New Jersey in 2007. They resided in Clark before relocating to Pen Argyl.

As a member of St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Parish, Eileen graduated from of St. Teresa of Avila Grammar School. After graduation from Summit High School, she attended Ferrum College in Virginia before beginning her career in financial services holding management and other positions. For many years, Eileen enjoyed her career at The Montclair Savings Bank in New Jersey. One of her last positions was with Kearny Federal Savings where she worked in the field of mortgage loans.

Eileen is survived by her husband and siblings, William Schroeder, Patricia (Douglas) Phillips, Barbara Scammell, Katy Curtin, Wynne (Edward) Walsh, Harvey (Susan) Gannon, John Gannon, Robert (Inge Voorhoeve) Gannon and Colleen (David) Ferrell. She is survived also by many loving nieces and nephews with whom she so enjoyed spending time at family gatherings.

Eileen loved life, God, and family and believed in the power of prayer. Our Eileen was a warm, compassionate soul, a joyful presence, who will be sorely missed by family and friends who loved her dearly. She has left us too soon but will live in our hearts forever.

The family extends our special thanks to the professionals and staff at St. Luke’s who cared for Eileen and assisted us at the most difficult time.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church, 306 Morris Ave. Summit, New Jersey on December 14 at 11AM. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing and mask requirements will be followed. Livestreaming is available at https://boxcast.tv/view/funera...
