All Ages Invited To Outdoor 'Mostly Motown' Concert In Summit
Rhonda Denet's concert will be performed on the Village Green. "There is literally something for everyone!" say organizers.
SUMMIT, NJ — Rhythm and blues singer Rhonda Denet will bring her talents to Summit's Village Green on Sunday afternoon as she performs her musical repertoire, "Mostly Motown." The free concert will start at 2 p.m.
The Summit Library, which is sponsoring the concert, wrote, "Rhonda Denet’s music is inspired by the rhythm & blues and Soul music of the 1960s and 1970s. Her music celebrates a time when this primarily African-American genre crossed over to mainstream audiences. Featured songs were made famous by The Supremes, Mary Wells, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and others. Through her music there is literally something for everyone!"
The rain date is May 18 at 7 p.m.

"Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend, including families," said the library. "Bring lawn chairs, a blanket, and bring along your dancing shoes (if you wish)—the music is sure to get you up and dancing!"
Summit Free Public Library’s Director, Susan Permahos, said, “Our first concert, last month, featured Viva Vallenato Cumbia Band. Turnout was great considering the gray day."

She added, "We’re most appreciative of Summit’s Department of Community Programs—they have graciously lent us the use of their stage for this performance. This is another example of how the Summit community partners to bring entertainment and joy to our citizens.”
This program made possible through a grant from the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey Council on the Arts and with special thanks to the City of Summit Department of Community Programs.
