Summit Primary Election Vote Totals Are In: Common Council
Here are unofficial vote totals for the candidates (and write-ins) who want their party's nomination to run for 4 council seats in November.

SUMMIT, NJ — With all districts reporting, the unofficial numbers have been tallied for the five candidates running for the Democratic and Republican nominations to vie for four Summit Common Council seats in November.
While the nominees in these unopposed races were a foregone conclusion, political observers sometimes look to the vote tabulations to determine how much support each side has early in the race.

In addition, Police Chief Robert Weck had mounted a campaign to get enough write-in votes to win the Republican party's nomination to compete against incumbent Democratic Councilman Andy Minegar for a 1st Ward seat in November. Since one candidate in that Republican primary appears to have gained more than 200 write-in votes, he is likely to have done so. Patch will update the results when they are available. 1st Ward
Andy Minegar (D): 429
Write-In (R): 218*
*Former Police Chief Robert Weck had mounted a campaign to be a write-in Republican vote in the 1st Ward.
2nd Ward (1-year term)
Lisa Allen (R): 357
Write-In (D): 18
2nd Ward (3-year term)
Greg Vartan III (D): 519
David Fosgate (R): 363
Summit residents also were able to vote in the primaries on Tuesday for Republican or Democratic candidates for state Senate and Assembly in the 21st Legislative District.
