Summit Bakery Celebrates Voting, Ruth Bader Ginsburg With Exhibit
They're featuring paintings of political figures by Julie Gaines, founder of Fishs Eddy, through Nov. 3. They've also got patriotic cookies.
SUMMIT, NJ — Bob Conway and Peter Lloyd, owners of Brownie Points Bakery on Beechwood Road in downtown Summit, are celebrating the country's right to vote. They're featuring classic American desserts, as well as an exhibit of paintings of political figures past and present, including recently departed Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, throughout fall.
They partnered with their friend, Julie Gaines, founder of the iconic Fishs Eddy in New York City, for an art exhibit that will run through Election Day, Nov. 3.
The “Lincoln Memorial” art exhibit, as Gaines calls it, features Gaines' acrylic paintings on glass of historic political icons, from Abraham Lincoln (in a decidedly tall hat) to Alexander Hamilton.

Conway said, “2020 has been a year like no other and it’s vitally important for people to exercise their right to vote in this election. We hope to inspire people to vote and provide them with some great treats throughout the election season. We will be featuring some favorite desserts of past presidents over the next six weeks.”
Julie Gaines, who started Fishs Eddy with vintage and found dinnerware, painted the portraits on glass of vintage and found frames, making each one unique.
